Before we delve into this article, I must mention one fact: my love for Apple is utterly subjective; it has been, is, and will remain eternally enthroned in my heart, but it would be undignified of me not to admit that Android has progressed at the speed of light in the field of next-gen technologies, and it might have surpassed Apple.
I have to mention the fact that while reading the article, you may be in an era in which Apple has IOS 40 already or doesn't even produce the IOS system anymore, but currently I'm writing this while waiting for the iPhone 17 premiere with the inspiration of the internet's chaotic augur.
Most critically, Apple has transformed from a pioneering disruptor into a deadline-averse company. Apple, which was nonpareil at producing impossible, now cannot even fit in deadlines of the promised products. To start with Apple Intelligence launch, which was originally slated to debut with iOS 18 in September 2024, Apple Intelligence was rolled out incrementally via iOS 18.1 in October instead. Then, personalized Siri was postponed - the much-touted Siri enhancements, context awareness, and multi-app actions were expected in iOS 18.4 (April 2025), then shifted to iOS 18.5, and now deferred into “the coming year” (really doubt that). Continuing, Craig Federighi and Greg Joswiak cited quality and reliability over deadlines: “It would’ve been more disappointing to ship something that didn’t hit our quality standard” (what a shame). And ending with the most catastrophic: Apple facing a U.S. federal lawsuit over allegedly misleading ads that promised Apple Intelligence features at launch. The lawsuit claims that consumers were deceived into buying devices based on undelivered features. It’s a bitter pill to swallow that Apple, absolutely sincere and outstanding with its vanity, is now being charged for the aforementioned case.
To shift onto another pretence I have towards Apple is on the decay of the design. Apple used to make you perceive the aphathetic. You’d hold a device and think, wow, Jony Ive is the GOAT. Every curve, every click, even the way the box opened - it had intention. Designs weren’t just sleek, they were little stories in metal and glass. Almost sacred. Now… it’s weird. "Less is more" has turned into "more is better." (Sometimes it really is, but we are talking about Apple, the uprising star of simplicity). Beautiful? Sure. Exciting? Not really. The sophistication? Degrading year by year.
While the rest of the world is incessantly developing, to be exact: producing foldables, AI-powered interfaces, experimental shapes. Apple tweaks what it already has. It’s like watching a chef reheat last year’s dish and call it a masterpiece. You can see the skill, but… where’s the thrill? The decay isn’t ugliness; it’s the lack of the usual creativity. Apple used to push forward, but now it polishes what’s already there, unfortunately. And for someone who loved holding these devices like works of art, it hurts more than a little.
And everything that I have mentioned earlier chainly caused a plummet. Apple's stock has experienced a significant decline from its peak in December 2024, dropping approximately 18%, which translates to a loss of over $700 billion in market capitalization (Global Trade Magazine). As of September 8, 2025, the stock is trading at $237.88, down from a high of $259.02 in late 2024 (MacroTrends). In comparison, the Nasdaq Composite has gained 12% year-to-date, highlighting Apple's underperformance relative to its tech peers.
I do not even know what to say at the end. I hope Apple manages to seize control of this situation as it's usual for them. Hope is what we are left with.
Frequently asked questions
Is Apple falling behind competitors in generative AI?
+
Apple's staggered rollout of Apple Intelligence and extensive postponements of its personalized, context-aware Siri upgrades have placed it behind competitors like Google and Samsung. Competitors integrated multimodal agents and device-level generative workflows earlier and more aggressively, whereas Apple faced public delays and regulatory scrutiny over unfulfilled launch promises.
What is the false advertising lawsuit regarding Apple Intelligence?
+
A US class-action securities and consumer protection lawsuit was brought against Apple accusing the company of misleading buyers by heavily promoting next-generation Siri and on-device AI capabilities during the iPhone 16 announcement that were missing or severely delayed at retail launch. The dispute spotlighted the gap between Apple's keynote promises and software delivery timelines.
Has Apple lost its design edge since Jony Ive left?
+
Critics argue that Apple has shifted from bold aesthetic disruption and tactile purity to safe, iterative refinement. While hardware build quality and silicon efficiency remain high, the absence of radical form-factor exploration—such as foldables or novel interaction paradigms—leaves recent hardware releases feeling incremental compared to the expressive shifts of past eras.
